Does anyone else have the issue (??) of liking one specific song only, but liking multiple bands
Like I can barely process a lot of song lyrics, and it takes a lot of time for me to even understand the song, so I usually listen to one song from a bunch of artists (personal favorite rn Beyond The Grave by Detoxi). My only issue is that it kinda makes me feel like a fraud, even though I listen to a variety of Goth bands, I can't say I have a favorite and I can't pull up someones whole music career.
Idk I guess I just have imposter syndrome, plus it's hard to speak to others about goth music when most people don't do this.
Edit: Probably should've made my title liking one specific song from multiple bands but, y'know, shit happens.

Anyone else notice some rising anti-trans sentiment within the goth community?
While it is still low, there seems to be a number of goths or those that claim to be who are openly anti-trans. I wouldn't say its just limited to opinions on the use of pronouns but on all trans identities directly.
Do you think it has the potential to become problematic? How do you view this? Is it mostly online in your opinion? I personally think it's low and mostly online.
In the 90s/2000s there was very fringe death in june and neo-folk/powerelectronics fans, and even rarer officially traditionally conservative or far right actual goths, who sometimes were open about their views in goth clubs. Outside of these people, you'd occasionally stubble upon open homophobia and racism, a bit more than today (hard to asses that properly to be fair), but in the last 5 years or so it was mostly people who at least for the most part barely knew enough about the music spouting alt-right talking points from the internet and claiming to be "goth"
I've just noticed this anti-trans thing, which is barely a thing, in the last year or so. What are your thoughts?

Does anyone know any French language music?
I’m trying to learn French and I was wondering if there’s a lot of French-language goth music.

This is a long shot but is there anyone here from Japan.
I recently found out that my husband is getting relocated to Japan for 3 years and we will be moving August just outside of Tokyo. Japan will be a super cultural shock and I don't really know much of any Japanese (I am studying currently)
I was just hoping if there were anyone in this sub in Japan you would be more helpful to me goth scene wise. I know there are a lot of Gothic Lolita shops but outside of that IDK what there is.
I also am visibly goth with piercings and tattoos moving to Japan… so people might be scared 🤷♀️ But I have delt with 90s goth harrassment in NYC so… idk how much worse it could be from that 🤷♀️
Any advice would be great. Japan has always been on my bucket list as I love Anime, Japanese food, sushi, Matcha, some J-rock etc. But I am also very nervous about the culture shock.

Anyone else a ‘latecomer’ to Goth?
Hi there
Thought I'd introduce myself and explain a bit about how I've got here
. TLDR: Im turning 30 this year and have finally started really heading down the goth path and just wondering if anyone else has a similar story of coming into Goth a little later?
I had a bit of a weird childhood/early teenhood that kind of cut me off from really being exposed to music. (Strictish Christian parents, ended up going to a private Christian ACE based school for secondary) I remember an online friend sending me some music via MSN (HIM) and yeah my music exposure was kind of limited.
It broadened a bit when I was 16 and went to college (Im in the UK) I started studying in 08 which was sort of the peak of the emo and then scene eras and so a lot of the artists I found and enjoyed were def in that sort of sphere like emo/pop punk adjacent with a bit of general rock and metal thrown in. (weirdly mcr wasn't one of these and I only started listening to them fairly recently)
And yeah I remember thinking all the alt kids I saw at my college looked cool (remember seeing a mix of like emo, scene, metal heads and goths) but I wasn't allowed to like explore that side of things on an aesthetic level as much as I want to ( yet again my parents, had little-no money of my own, lack of places to shop, plus sized) so I sort of looked on in want.
And yeah in recent times I've realised that basically I haven't grown out of my 'alt' leanings and well Im an adult now who has access to some (not a lot but some) money and that I was def drawn to Goth on an aesthetic/lifestyle level at least and as it turns out I enjoy the music side of it too and its quite nice finally having the chance to explore dressing the way I want and listening to what I want and it all just generally feels right for me.
So yeah there's my story of how at 29 I'm finally doing what teenage me wanted to do.
